Anime to Live-Action

One of our fine trade papers reports that the comic and anime Bleach has been grabbed by Warner Bros. for a full-bore, live action feature ...

Probably the 75 million comics circulating in Japan had something to do with Warners. And you have to admit: a kid who can see dead people is certainly commercial.

If only filmmakers could see that these stories from Japan are so loved by American youth because of their very Japanese-ness. No doubt it will be taken out of context and ruined anyway, probably with all white actors and a US backdrop.

Bleach was one of the first Anime I've followed in my later days. While I feel its taken several leaps over several sharks, I keep coming back for more.

I'm intrigued to see what WB will do with this.
